You can absolutely kill yourself in the gym every single day [which isn’t recommended at all in the first place!], but if your nutrition is off and you are not properly fueling your body, you will never see the results you’re looking for. The saying that abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym is spot on: health and fitness go hand in hand. In order to achieve both, you need to eat and train right, refuel properly, get enough sleep, and drink a ton of water each day.

Several things happen when your training and eating start complimenting each other. You start to:

At SICFIT Round Rock, we believe that nutrition is the flipside of the training coin, and in order to get the results you want, we want to arm you with the tools you need on both fronts. Proper diet is as individualized as each person, so it can often be tricky trying to navigate what plan will work best for you and your individual goals. This is where we come in! At the end of the day, our mantra is to just eat real food, but within that broad scope, there are individualized plans that we can help cater to each person’s needs. From high fat and calorie diets for more elite athletes to Zone or 80/20 Paleo for people trying to cut fat and pounds, nutrition plans will be catered to your needs and goals. As your training and body changes, so will your fueling and refueling. We are here to help try and take some of that guesswork out of meals and meal prep in order to set you up for success.

WHAT IS PALEO?

food pyramidThe Paleo Diet is a way of eating in the modern age that best mimics the diets of our hunter-gatherer ancestors– combinations of lean meats, seafood, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and water, WATER, WATER. By eating the foods that we are genetically adapted to eat, followers of the Paleo Diet are naturally lean, have acne-free skin, improved athletic performance, and are experiencing relief from numerous metabolic-related and autoimmune diseases.

Bottom line: Stay away from processed food, food that is difficult for our bodies to process like grains and dairy, and just eat real, whole foods as much and as possible. Food is fuel, and we want to fuel our bodies with the best possible, each and every day, which is why we don’t believe in diet trends or fads. This is a lifestyle that will translate and color how you view food from here out. You will start to take notice of nutrition labels and shy away from chemical nonsense that is hard to pronounce and even harder to digest. You will start to understand that eating well helps you live well, sleep well, and train well. When that happens, something like the old school ‘cheat days’ just don’t seem as appealing anymore. Proper nutrition is the foundation for everything else you do, both in and out of the gym.

Through individualized nutrition coaching and by combining the Paleo diet food choices with Zone quantities, we can give our students a formula for the types and amounts of fuel to use. From writing out plans to walking you through the grocery store or taking trips to the farmer’s market, we want to use whatever method you need in order to make sure you fully understand what fuel you and your body needs. We will be as specific or as hands-off as you need, but at the end of the day, our goal is to ensure you have the tools you need to achieve your own personal goals.
